Country Store, Chevy Truck, and Labradors

Chevy Truck and Labradors, oil on cradled panel, 16x20, $1200
As a young girl, I enjoyed visiting my granddaddy's general store in rural Arkansas. I remember a cousin giving me rides around the store on a dolly. I weighed myself on the bulk feed and grain scale. Grandmother made me a smocked dress out of printed cotton feed bags. Great grandpa would pour salted peanuts into his RC Cola to take out the fizz. My favorite memory was a cousin taking me bareback riding on his horse, Red.
My husband and I visited the original Vermont Country Store on a fall foliage tour of New England. This vintage Chevy truck was decorated with hay bales, pumpkins, and mums, and I added chocolate, yellow, and black labrador retrievers to the nostalgic scene.
