I was fortunate to visit Crested Butte with dear friends. The mountain landscape above is the view west from the deck of the cabin. Mornings were cool and the rising sun glowed on the wildflowers. This painting began in plein air where I set up under a stand of trees along the trail. Having sketched the main shapes and laid in the sky and mountain, a brief thunder shower passed through. Perhaps you can see the storm clouds coming?
