I’m highly honored to have my oil painting “Lower Falls of the Yellowstone” http://www.SollerOriginals.com accepted in The Russell: The Sale to Benefit the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, MT. This prestigious Western Art Auction features 260 artworks by the best known living and deceased Western painters and sculptors including Charles Marion Russell and Nicolai Fechin. Last year the grand total of sales at the three day event were $1,350,305 with individual pieces selling for anywhere from $300 to $200,000.

Portrait of Sara

My niece Sara is studying 2D studio art at the University of Arizona. My family and my sister's family rented a gorgeous mountain home above Glenwood Springs to spend time together enjoying winter in Colorado. Sara posed for me next to full length windows with the morning sun illuminating her face and purple hair which seemed to glow. Sara is a free spirit who studies fencing, loves to make period costumes and enjoys a good card game in addition to being an aspiring artist. I love the curve of her neck and head and the inviting way she is leaning slightly forward toward the viewer. My goal for this painting was to create a classical portrait incorporating a black, white and red color scheme, but with a contemporary subject.
